Why do I have to log in?
You can only communicate with other members on GAYGATE when you are logged in. While you are logged in you can also edit your profile, plus other members can see that you are online!

How can I register?
You can register on GAYGATE under www.gaygate.com/aanmelden.html. Registering on GAYGATE is very fast and easy. Within only five minutes you are a member of GAYGATE and can use all services on this site. Once you registered you can very easily activate your profile so that other members can find you, further you can take part in discussions in the forum and set up a dating ad. Of course you can also make use of the messenger. The messenger is a very easy and simple way to get in contact with other GAYGATE members!

How do I log in?
Please enter your username and password on the upper left, under the GAYGATE logo. Just click on 'login' and you are logged in!
If you leave the box 'remember login!' ticked you will be logged in automatically every time you come back to GAYGATE. All your contacts and other members will then immediately see that you are online and can send you messages through the messenger.

How can I change my profile?
If you are logged in, your personal menu will appear under the logo on the upper left-hand. In the orange part you can edit your profile, change your settings and add or remove your personal photos.

It is not possible to change your username.

How can I send messages to other members?
Click on the envelope next to a username to send a message to that person. These envelopes can be found in front of every contact in the messenger and in the member profiles.

What is the messenger?
The dark part on the left-hand under the logo is your messenger. With the messenger you can send messages to all the people on GAYGATE. In the top part you can see whether you have any new messages. If you have received a message just click on the text and the message appears in a pop up on your screen. Underneath are your contacts listed, first the green ones, those are the contacts that are currently online! Under that you see the red contacts which are not logged in at the moment.
Click once on the envelope in front of a username to send a message to that person, using the messenger. You can also send messages to people who are currently not online, they will receive your message as soon as they are back on GAYGATE. Click the envelope twice to reach the person’s profile.
With the arrows on the lower right-hand of the dark part you can easily scroll up and down your contact list – handy when you have a lot of contacts!!

I have a problem with my computer / Internet Explorer keeps crashing...
GAYGATE works best on the Windows platform with a recent version of Internet Explorer or Firefox. Besides we recommend to regularly surf to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to install all necessary patches and updates from that site.

Are you maybe using proxy servers, firewall software or popup killers? Please switch off those devices in case you are experiencing problems. It can also be helpful to delete your temporary internet files and cookies.

In case you are being notified that you are not logged in while you are reading messages please shut down your browser completely, then start it up again and log in to GAYGATE once more.

I have a Mac and my computer / browser keeps crashing...
The Internet Explorer version 5.1 for Mac contains a lot of bugs. These bugs are situated in the advanced parts of the browser, of which GAYGATE makes increased use. This explains why your browser might crash more often on GAYGATE than it does on other websites. There is also the version 5.2 for Mac, which according to our opinion is more stable. Moreover, if you are using Mac OS X you have Safari. Besides, if experiencing problems with internet explorer on the Mac, you could try to download Firebird for Mac.
